We print using two types of high quality canvas, 300 gsm and 440 gsm with vivid inks by HP Printing Tech.

Obviously being from a photographic background working for clients such as OK magazine, Hello magazine, Marriott, Santander and BBC, image quality is the number one objective, in photography terms this is measured be sharpness and vivid colours but skin colour and tone needs the widest colour range.

Then there is contrast and this needs to be clean, to achieve great contrast with smooth tones, its essential to have a photographic black in and two lighter blacks, this means that other colours don’t need to be used to lighten the black.

Then there is price and so the trade off begins, so to maximise the best image print qualities but keep the cost down, Longstaffe gallery use a 220 GSM canvas with one coat of UV varnish.

Liverpool Marriott Hotel Refurbishment with High-Quality Wallcoverings

David Thomas, former General Manager at Liverpool Marriott Hotel, commissioned a unique art project in 2012. This project included a stunning 22-foot wallpaper alongside canvas and framed prints displayed throughout the hotel.

In 2015, Ludwig Duweke took over as GM and continued the successful partnership with Marriott Hotels and David Longstaffe Photography. Duweke further enhanced the hotel’s aesthetics by commissioning new canvas artworks by Longstaffe Gallery for multiple floors.

Under Gareth Marsh’s leadership as the new GM, Liverpool Marriott Hotel underwent a comprehensive refurbishment. The hotel ownership and Marriott Group collaboratively decided to invest in a complete hotel refresh. Longstaffe Gallery was again entrusted with the project, tasked with designing artworks for all 300 guest rooms. Additionally, two large-scale wallpapers were created for the bar and staircase areas.

Longstaffe Gallery, located at 387-393 Edge Lane Liverpool L7 9LQ, played a key role in the project. They were involved in every stage of the planning process, ensuring all canvas artworks were manufactured and printed on-site to meet the highest quality and budget specifications. Gareth Marsh expressed his satisfaction with Longstaffe Gallery’s timely completion of the project adhering to all quality and price requirements.
